Mint leaves belong to the genus Mentha. Mint is popular in many cuisines. Mint comes both in fresh and dried form.  Mint is popular in Indian cuisine and is used in chutney, curries, sauces, meat dishes and teas.  Mint leaves can be consumed raw. Mint has a strong flavor and aroma.  Ithas been said that mint has anti-inflammatory properties.  May reduce asthma and allergy symptoms. It canhelp digestive problems, irritable bowel syndrome and also has antifungal properties. There are many types ofmintbut the fresh mint sold in the market is usually spearmint. Mint complements many a meat dishes and the lamb and mint is a classic combination. Mint is relatively high in Vitamin A and C.Mint leaves can be stored in the refrigerator in a damp paper towel and will be fresh for a few days.Dried mint can be stored in the pantry for a few months. Avoid any freshmintor drymintwith pale stems and leaves.
