In this class you will learn how to make a simple rice pilaf with some spices to accompany with your spicy Indian curry and a spicy vegetable pilaf which can be a meal in itself. Duration of Class: 30 to 40 minutes Date: May 27, 2020 at 2:00pm to 2:40pm Ingredients for Rice Pilafs Simple Rice Pilaf 2 cups rice 4 cups water 1 teaspoon cumin seeds 3 to 4 green cardamom, bruised and seeds crushed 1 cinnamon stick 1 Bay leaf 1 tablespoon oil, ghee or butter 1 teaspoon salt Spicy Rice Pilaf 2 cups rice 4 cups water 1 teaspoon turmeric powder 1 teaspoon cumin seeds 1 teaspoon garam masala, 1 bay leaf 1 stick cinnamon stick 5 cardamom pods, seeds crushed 2 cloves, crushed into powder 1 onion, peeled and chopped 2 to 3 garlic cloves 1 inch ginger, peeled and thinly sliced 1 teaspoon black pepper crushed 2 carrots, peeled and chopped into pieces 1 large potato, peeled and diced in little cubes 1 cup frozen peas 1 green pepper or red pepper 1/2 cup cashews, chopped (if you are allergic to nuts don’t use it) 2 green chili, chopped finely (remove the seeds if you don’t like it hot) 2 tablespoon oil, ghee or butter 2 tablespoon cilantro leaves 1 to 2 teaspoon salt
